    Project Pages and Social Media

The following project pages and social media examples will be discussed during the presentation:

    Project Scope

The Florida Health Justice Project's (FHJP) STORIES website is designed to provide visitors an intimate glimpse of the trials and tribulations of vulnerable Floridians facing healthcare barriers. We want their voices to be heard and felt through the words and images of their STORIES. This foundation served as the starting point in the construction of our new project "Medicaid | The Lived Experience", which focuses on the importance of Medicaid, as well as specific barriers linked to advocacy issues that FHJP is addressing.

This project details the STORIES of those Floridians who rely on Medicaid. The types of STORIES shared focus on children, former foster care children, pregnant women, low-income parents and seniors/people with disabilities. Their experiences will serve as a powerful advocacy tool in helping FHJP educate the public, the media and policymakers in understanding how important Medicaid is for Floridians and their families.

    Design Elements

In constructing the design of the site pages for the "Medicaid | The Lived Experience" project , we wanted to ensure the content connects with the visitor on an emotional level as well as inspires a call-to-action. Achieving this objective requires building page elements that weave together seamlessly to provide an accurate depiction of the barriers experienced by some Floridians seeking necessary care.

    Page Structure and Navigation

Ease of navigation on a website is a major factor in determining the amount of time spent by visitors. Additionally, carefully planning the flow of content within a page can greatly impact the level of visitor engagement.

    Visual Hierarchy

A fundamental concept in content design is the idea of visual hierarchy - the order in which a user processes information on a web page. These elements include varying font sizes for titles and headers, various color palettes for content sections, visual images and their placement on the page.

    Page Assets

The level of engagement experienced by visitors to a web page is enhanced by the inclusion of meaningful page assets. These elements can take the form of written content (story narratives, reports, etc); photos, audio and/or videos; and resource/reference materials (links, directories, etc).

Soapboxx Videos and Social Media Marketing

By creating our own Soapboxx landing page, which details step-by-step instruction for creating a video testimonial, FHJP is able to effectively utilize it for recruiting possible participants, in addition to providing clear and concise information on the video recording process.

"Lights, Camera, Advocacy!" is the social media marketing campaign that FHJP has developed to help promote our Soapboxx video testimonials. We have integrated the "Lights, Camera, Advocacy!" tag line into the intro of each Soapboxx video testimonial submission as well as into our social media posts promoting these videos on our "Medicaid | The Lived Experience" project pages.

An example of the "Lights, Camera, Advocacy!" tag line integration into one of our Soapboxx video testimonial can be found here (Victoria | Lee County, FL). Examples of the tag line's integration into our social media posts can be found here (Twitter and Facebook).

Our extensive community outreach for Soapboxx video submissions is producing significant results. To date (06/22/2021), we have received 25 new Soapboxx video testimonials, which are currently being edited and will be soon posted to the "Medicaid | The Lived Experience" project pages.

    Project Management

Constructing the pages for the "Medicaid | The Lived Experience" project was the first part of the equation. The task of project management is the critical second component. To accomplish this, Florida Health Justice Project utilizes a cloud-based, project management software called Airtable in tandem with Google Docs and Google Drive.
